Learn How To Use Your Digital Camera

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW MUCH PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
There are workshops available for beginners, intermediate, and advanced photographers. You only need to own a digital camera: any brand, any model.

WHAT TYPE OF EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Bring your digital camera. If you have a laptop computer, lenses, and/or flash, it would be great if you could bring those too. This will help our instructors help you, to learn your equipment better and take better pictures! For all workshops, be sure to bring your camera manual and make sure that your camera battery is charged. For the Advanced Workshops, bring your battery charger and more than one set of rechargeable batteries, and an external hard drive in addition your laptop, to guarantee you have enough storage space, especially if you are shooting RAW. Make sure to have the appropriate image editing software on your laptop to view and edit your images.

HOW DO I KNOW IF A WORKSHOP IS FULL OR NOT?
Please register for a class within two (2) weeks of the workshop date. We will always do our best to accommodate as many students as possible, and in the case that your requested workshop is full, we will schedule you for an upcoming month. Remember that there is a 12-student maximum and some classes will fill up quickly. If a class is full, a SOLD OUT banner will appear next to that class. Your best bet is to enroll early and if you any questions about availability, please call 1-877-372-2231 (1-877-DPACAD-1).

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING POLICY?
There is no cancellation fee if you notify us prior to one (1) week before your workshop. Later cancellations will not be refunded. Workshops can be rescheduled by the student once without fee, and any additional reschedules are permitted for a fee of $10 each.

Covid is global and we want you to know that workshops through May are currently being rescheduled to begin in July-December, 2020. Please contact us toll free, 1 877 372 2231 or email us at DPABooking@DigitalPhotoAcademy.com. Once we communicate, we can provide either a full refund or postpone your workshop with no deadline on selecting a new date.

NON-PHOTOGRAPHER SPOUSE/COMPANION POLICY
Spouses or non-photographer companions of workshop participants who accompany registered students to a DPA workshop will be charged the prevailing workshop cost. This is because of the 15-student per class maximum. Please note that although there is not an age-minimum for the DPA workshops, we do recommend that children under 15 are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

WHAT DOES THE INITIAL REVIEW SESSION MEAN?
Bring existing work that you have already shot (5 prints) for your preliminary work review. Bring images that you like and don’t like. Bring questions.

HOW DO WE DRESS ON THE WORKSHOPS?
We are usually very casual for the workshops. We will be both indoors and outdoors, so bring a variety of comfortable clothing you can layer. Dress comfortably, with good walking shoes.

Call us with any other questions you might have!
